  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

This is Die Drei Kantoren’s second CD, consisting of Chazzanut, Yiddish and Chasidic melodies, Israeli songs, and Sepharadic piyutim – all in original arrangements. We are happy to feature some wonderful guest artists who made this second album even richer in sound and inspiration. Two of the pieces in this album – Pitchu Li and Elu Dvarim – were composed especially for us by our very own Ido Ben-Gal and Assaf Levitin. Our dozens of concerts in Jewish communities and in festivals in Germany and abroad motivated us to get back into the recording studio as quickly as possible. For this we are very thankful.

Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For He strengthens the bars of your gates, He blesses your children within you.
2.
The following things have no measure: The corner of the field (which is left for the poor), The fruit offerings, the pilgrimage, The acts of kindness and the study of Torah
3.
They call me Dark Girl, my skin is clear and soft. The heat of the sizzling sun gave me my darkness. Dark Girl, how beautiful you are, Fire burns in your eyes, my heart is all yours. Dark Girl, so call me all the mariners. If they should call me one more time, I will go again with them. Dark Girl, how beautiful you are, Fire burns in your eyes, my heart is all yours. Dark Girl, so calls me the son of a reigning king, If he should call me one more time, I will go with him. Dark Girl, how beautiful you are, Fire burns in your eyes, my heart is all yours.

Ribbons, pearls, golden flags, The Messiah, son of David, sits on high. He holds a cup in His right hand, And sends His blessing to the entire world. Oy, amen and amen, this is true, The Messiah shall come yet this year.
5.
For Your Name signifies Your praise: Hard to anger and easy to appease. For You do not wish the death of one deserving death, But that he repent from his way and live. Until the day of his death You await him, If he repents You will accept him immediately. It is true that You are their Creator And You know their inclination For they are flesh and blood. A man's origin is from dust And his destiny is back to dust, At risk of his life he earns his bread, He is likened to a broken shard, Withering grass, a fading flower, A passing shade, a dissipating cloud, A blowing wind, flying dust, And a fleeting dream.
6.
Zion, my innocent one, Zion, my beloved one, My soul longs for you from afar. May my right hand forget her cunning If I should ever forget you, my beautiful one, Until my grave closes itself over me. I shall never forget you, Zion, my beloved! You are my hope and longing for as long as I live. Even if I forget all – You are the remainings of my soul, And you, Zion, shall be a mark on my grave.
7.
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it, Except the Lord build the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
8.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul, He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me In the presence of mine enemies, Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Akavia ben Mahalalel said: Keep three things in mind and you will not come to sin: Know from where you came, and to where you are going, And before Whom you will have to give account and reckoning. From where did you come? From a putrid drop. To where are you going? To a place of dust, worms, and maggots. And before Whom will you have to give account and reckoning? Before the King of Kings, the Holy One, Blessed be He.

Open to me the gates of righteousness, I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord. This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, And art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused Is become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord's doing, it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord hath made, We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Noakh 02:46
Noah – we will never forget how, in the rain and storm Noah – you collected all the animals. Two of each kind, The lion, the mammoth, the camel, the carp, Even the hippopotamus. How you opened the window And the dove came From the white skies. Noah – how long are we going to keep on sailing? Noah – the windows have been shut for two months now. And we’re running out of air, The lion, the mammoth, the camel, the carp, Even the hippopotamus. Crack open the window And send the dove To the white skies. Noah – what are you worrying about? The rain stopped. Noah – open the window, maybe there is a rainbow And we could all see it The lion, the mammoth, the camel, the carp, Even the hippopotamus. Crack open the window And send the dove To the white skies. Noah – the dove already came back with the olive branch Noah – let us out so we could go back home Because we’re tired of each other The lion, the mammoth, the camel, the carp, Even the hippopotamus. Crack open the window So we could fly to the white skies Together with the dove.

Hey you, klezmer, pick up your fiddle, Play your music, And we’ll dance the new sher. We’ll spin around in a karahod, And our hearts will rejoice, Whenever the new sher is danced. Higher, higher, Grandpa Elya leaps Straight up to the ceiling, He wants to enjoy life fully. And Grandma Sosye beams with joy! Our enemies can go to hell, For we’re going to dance the new sher. Nu, see, just see how everyone is happy, How they spin, And how they tap their feet. The heart is breaking But still begs to dance, For when we dance, life becomes so sweet.

-Oh, Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife, Hannukah is around the corner! And on Hannukah what do I wish? To eat a sweet, warm latke! -Oh, Kalman, my dear husband, No flour is left in my kitchen. My dear husband, how could I Make a latke with no flour? Then Kalman prepares himself, Wears his cap, puts on his boots, Rides to the market, buys quickly A bag of flour and goes back home. -Here, Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife, Here is your flour, make a latke! Because on Hannukah what do I wish? To eat a sweet, warm latke! -Oh, Kalman, my dear husband, No oil is left in my kitchen. My dear husband, how is it possible To make a latke with no oil? Again Kalman prepares himself, Wears his cap, puts on his boots, Rides to the market, buys quickly A bottle of virgin oil and goes back home. -Here, Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife, Here is your oil, make a latke! Because on Hannukah what do I wish? To eat a sweet, warm latke… -Oh, Kalman, my dear husband, No sugar is left in my kitchen! My dear husband, how is it possible To make a latke with no sugar at all? Tired and sad and thinking of a latke, Kalman puts on his boots again, Goes back to the market, even more hungry, Buys sugar and rides back home. -Here, Hannah Zelda, my beloved wife, Here is your sugar, make a latke! Because on Hannukah what do I wish? To eat a sweet, warm latke… -Oh, Kalman, my dear husband, Couldn’t we postpone it all for tomorrow? My dear husband, how is it possible To make latkes when I have no more strangth? Then Kalman takes off his boots, Puts on an apron, rolls up his sleeves, Kneads the dough, forms it well, He who laughs last, laughs best! -Oh, Hannah Zelda, morning has come, Open your eyes – here’s a latke! Because on Hannukah what do we wish? To eat a sweet, warm latke!

The Lord is most honorable, I shall welcome Him, With song and praise I shall come to His dwellings, As in the days of Moses and Aaron He shall lead me to His house. May my pleadings rise and may He hear my voice, And forgive me from the Highest and help me, He shall hear the words of my mouth And disregard my sins. Lord, let us celebrate the bride and groom, Through the merit of our father and His righteousness, And the queen Rachel shall reign Like Solomon in his kingdom.

The waterpipe plays a sprinkling song, The waterpipes are the Negev’s veins. This is how the song goes, From the faucet to the clods of the land. The groundwater shall rise up! The pump calls for bread! Negev, Negev, what has come over you? Negev, the sprinkles are coming! Spin, spin, oh sprinkler, Spread your pearls of light, Spin and spray water! A tree shall cheer in the field, The land shall give its fruit Even tough no rain falls from the sky. The whole area is captured, The waterpipes spread their net, And here comes a sign, A rainbow shows among the drops. The covenant of the flower and the field, The covenant of the silence and the song, Sprinkler, your song is beautiful! Sing it and never stop!

Zamar Noded 01:55
The road is very long, The road is long and magestic. Everyone walks the road until the end, Everyone walks it until its bitter end. But I walk alone, Halleluja! Praise the Lord! And I sing the songs of a wandering bard, Halleluja! Praise the Lord! One man is looking for gold, Looking for precious gold, Another finds a girl to love, A girl to love him. Refrain: But I walk alone… I am not looking for a house with a field, I am not looking for a house with a green field. All I want is your voice that answers mine, All I want is that you sing and laugh with me. My voice shall sing, but you will echo with it, Halleluja! Praise the Lord! Woe is the song that has no echo, Halleluja! Praise the Lord!
